Springfield, Massachusetts – December 18, 2024  The International Molded Fiber Association (IMFA) proudly reflects on 2024 as its most impactful year to date. With record-breaking membership growth, the largest conference in the association’s history, innovative educational initiatives, and the introduction of new membership categories, IMFA has solidified its role as a global leader in advancing sustainable molded fiber solutions.

As industries and consumers alike strive to address urgent environmental challenges, IMFA’s work has been pivotal in promoting the adoption and innovation of molded fiber packaging products. The association’s mission to champion sustainable solutions aligns with the growing demand for eco-friendly alternatives across the globe.

IMFA closed 2024 with an extraordinary 52% increase in membership – this milestone mirrors the rapid expansion of the molded fiber industry, driven by rising consumer and corporate commitments to sustainability. IMFA’s growing network of members reflects the organization’s appeal as the go-to hub for innovation, collaboration, and industry advancement in molded fiber packaging.

The 26th Annual Conference, held in September in San Diego, California, was the most successful to date. Drawing attendees from nearly two dozen countries, the event shattered attendance records. Featuring thought-provoking sessions and unparalleled networking opportunities, the conference underscored the global significance of molded fiber products in the fight against environmental degradation. Looking ahead, IMFA’s 27th Annual Conference in April 2025 will return to the East Coast for the first time in nearly a decade, promising another dynamic gathering for industry leaders and innovators.

In a landmark move to foster industry accessibility and cultivate the next generation of molded fiber professionals, IMFA introduced new membership categories for Universities and Students. These memberships provide educators and students with opportunities to engage with global leaders and actively participate in the industry’s rapid growth.

To further its commitment to education, IMFA launched the Molded Fiber Masterclass, a free, four-part video training series. Spearheaded by IMFA executive team member Ashley Boger, the series offers comprehensive insights into the various types of molded fiber, providing essential knowledge for both newcomers and experienced professionals. This initiative lays the foundation for the newly formed Education & Training Committee, which will expand IMFA’s educational resources in 2025 and beyond, solidifying the association’s role as a leader in professional development for the molded fiber industry.

“As we reflect on 2024, it’s clear that the molded fiber industry is reaching new heights,” said Gary Visser, Executive Chairman of IMFA. “This year’s growth in membership, our record-breaking conference, and the launch of innovative educational programs show that our industry is thriving. IMFA remains committed to empowering our members and driving global adoption of sustainable molded fiber solutions to address the critical environmental challenges we face.”

As IMFA prepares for its 27th Annual Conference from April 30–May 2, 2025, minutes outside of Miami, Florida, the association remains steadfast in its mission to innovate and grow the molded fiber market. Molded fiber continues to be the fastest-growing segment in the packaging industry, with its potential to revolutionize sustainability solutions critical to addressing the global environmental crisis.
